Well it had to happen – the move to the big city to expand samespeak.com. I last lived in Auckland in 2005 when I was HOF at Otahuhu College, teaching English of course and now I’m back here again. Already opportunities have been opening up so am very excited – change is good!

Writing creative stories in English for high school students in a different language can be quite daunting. Unless students are adequately stimulated, they can find writing boring and tedious. Who remembers the “Write about what you did in the holidays” task?. A useful approach is to engage learners in discussion where you can get them to relive the experience as if they were actually there again. Creative writing in English can be fun!
